Are you looking for the best hotels in Ko Olina? This guide from a local covers all of the best accommodation options.

With its four picture perfect lagoons and handful of hotel options, Ko Olina is a tourist hotspot – and for good reason. It’s a stunning place! But choosing between all of the Ko Olina hotel options – and knowing all of your options in the first place – can be difficult. But as an Oahu local, I know Ko Olina inside and out, and I’m here to help. Without further ado, here are the best hotels in Ko Olina.
The Best Hotels in Ko Olina Proper
Ko Olina is sort of like a metaphorical “island” within an island. There’s one way in and one way out. There’s not even any public transportation to the area, so it feels a little more remote, even though it’s only ten minutes from the nearby city of Kapolei. If you can swing the cost, it’s best to stay at an accommodation in Ko Olina proper for convenience purposes. And if you can’t, that’s totally okay! We’ll cover those options too.

2. Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa
Rating: (4.6/5 (11,000+ reviews) | Location: Ko Olina Lagoon 1 | Book It!
When Disney opened the Aulani resort in 2011, it was a big deal. After all, who wouldn’t want a getaway that mixes the magic of Disney with the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands? While staying at this Lagoon 1 pixie-dusted accommodation, you’ll get to hang out with your favorite Disney characters, trade Disney pins, relax in lazy rivers, snorkel at the beach and in designated reefs, and slip down speedy waterslides, just to start.
Beyond the influence of the theme park giant, the Aulani also has many island touches – from murals to foods to architectural choices. You can even take a free guided arts and cultural tour to really dive into the hotel’s Polynesian influences. And just visiting this magical hotel is one of the best things to do in Ko Olina.

3. Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club
Rating: 8.5/10 (70+ reviews) | Location: Ko Olina Lagoon 3 | Book It!
Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club has Lagoon 3 all to itself – and it needs it, given its three massive towers. Boasting 546 rooms (many of which have multiple bedrooms, making it great for larger travel groups), this Ko Olina hotel can hold thousands of guests at once. And between the lagoon-front sun loungers, refreshing pools, and lengthy list of daily activities, every single visitor can stay fully entertained throughout the duration of their trip.

• Great for all sorts of travelers, including couples, families, friend groups, and family reunions

Cons

4. Beach Villas at Ko Olina
Rating: Differs depending on unit | Location: Ko Olina Lagoon 2 | Book It!
The Beach Villas at Ko Olina is the one Ko Olina hotel option that manages to slip under the radar, and that’s because it’s a little non-traditional. These Lagoon 2 accommodations function more like vacation rentals than anything else, with some even serving as full-time homes for Ko Olina locals. And while you can book a villa on the Beach Villas’ website, most visitors find these multi-bedroom, oceanfront accommodations on well-known vacation rental sites, like Airbnb and VRBO instead.
Since the Beach Villas at Ko Olina is more like a cluster of vacation rentals than a hotel, the amenities are a little different too. You’ll find things like two pools, a fitness room, and a beach bar with live music, but you won’t find on-site restaurants or a list of daily activities.
Pros and Cons of the Beach Villas at Ko Olina
Pros
• Oceanfront location
• More affordable price
• Extra spacious, with all of the units boasting multiple bedrooms
• Not typically as busy as the other Ko Olina accommodation options
• Parking rate often included in room rate
Cons
• Each unit has a different owner and property manager, which means the rules and amenities are slightly different depending on the one you reserve.
• No on-site dining options (with the exception of one small beach bar)
• No scheduled activities, except for live music

The Best Hotels Near Ko Olina
If you can’t swing the prices in Ko Olina, that’s totally understandable. The oceanfront accommodations don’t come cheap (fortunately or unfortunately, all of the hotels in Ko Olina are right on the water).
Instead, book yourself a much more affordable place to stay at one of the hotels in Kapolei, just ten minutes from Ko Olina. While these hotels don’t come with a whole schedule of activities or themed interior design, they are clean, crowd-free, and great for your wallet.
(Apologies in advance for the lack of pictures. Apparently when you hang out in an area too often, you take zero pictures. I’ll try to snap some and add them in soon!)
5. Hampton Inn & Suites Oahu/Kapolei
Rating: 8.8/10 (300+ reviews) | Location: Kapolei/Ewa Beach | Book It!
While not technically in Ko Olina, the Hampton Inn & Suites Oahu/Kapolei is fantastic for budget travelers to Hawaii. Though you’ll need a car to make the ten-minute drive to Ko Olina, this hotel is right on top of West Oahu’s only major shopping mall: Ka Makana Alii. There, you’ll find convenient restaurants, shops, and even a grocery store.
As for the hotel itself, it’s clean, well-decorated, and rarely crowded. It also comes with basic amenities, like a fitness center, a pool, and complimentary breakfast.
Pros and Cons of the Hampton Inn & Suites Oahu/Kapolei
Pros
• Affordable
• At Ka Makana Alii Shopping Center, providing easy access to food and shopping options
• Rarely busy
• Clean
• Complimentary breakfast
• Free parking
Cons
• About 10 minutes from the nearest beach
• Limited on-site activities
6. Embassy Suites by Hilton Oahu Kapolei
Rating: 8.8/10 (300+ reviews) | Location: Kapolei | Book It!
Just down the road from the Hampton Inn & Suites Oahu/Kapolei lies the Embassy Suites by Hilton Oahu Kapolei. Like the other Kapolei hotels, the Embassy Suites is clean, affordable, and crowd-free. It also has a fitness center, a pool, and complimentary breakfast.
The downside to this particular West Oahu hotel is that you’ll have to drive everywhere. There’s maybe one restaurant within walking distance (besides the two in the hotel), and that’s about it.
Pros and Cons of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Oahu Kapolei
Pros
• Affordable
• Rarely busy
• Clean
• Free shuttle to local beaches (though, from what I’ve heard, it’s not actually that helpful or consistent)
• Complimentary breakfast
Cons
• About 10 minutes from the nearest beach
• No activities within walking distance; will have to drive or take public transportation
• Limited on-site activities
7. Residence Inn Oahu Kapolei
Rating: 8.6/10 (100+ reviews) | Location: Kapolei | Book It!
Literally across the street from the Embassy Suites, you’ll find the Residence Inn Oahu Kapolei. It’s a low-grade Hilton vs. Marriott rivalry happening – and if you have a preference between the two chains, that’s how you should pick, because the amenities are nearly identical. Fitness center, pool, complimentary breakfast? Check, check, check!
Like the Embassy Suites, you’ll need a car (or public buses) to get absolutely everywhere from the Residence Inn, so please keep that in mind.
Pros and Cons of the Residence Inn Oahu Kapolei
Pros
• Affordable
• Rarely busy
• Clean
• Complimentary breakfast
Cons
• About 10 minutes from the nearest beach
• No activities within walking distance; will have to drive or take public transportation
• Limited on-site activities

BONUS: Vacation Rentals
There are some vacation rentals — think Airbnb and VRBO — in both Ko Olina and Kapolei. Depending on the added fees, these vacation rentals can be cheaper than the hotels listed above (but not always). Please be sure to check that your rental is legal and licensed before booking a stay (there’s usually a registration number at the bottom of the accommodation description).
And there you have it! All of the best hotels in Ko Olina – and in the nearby vicinity! Hopefully this article helped you figure out which Ko Olina accommodation is best for you.
