SoCal: A Hidden Hub for Sweet Frozen Treats

Ice Cream Places in SoCal Little Damage Charcoal Ice Cream

Everyone loves their kind of frozen treat – froyo, sherbet, sorbet, and ice cream of course.  And SoCal is a hidden hub of places to transform your cold treat experience.  Here are just a few suggestions of ice cream places in SoCal that I’ve been to with some creative twist:

Milk

Just this past weekend, I visited Milk for the first time, and I’m so glad I did.  In addition, to some bomb flavors like blueberry crumble and baked apple, they make macaron ice cream sandwiches.  So if you want to get on board with that macaron craze that’s hitting LA hard, but you don’t want to give up your solid treat of ice cream, this is the perfect combo.

Rori’s

My favorite thing about Rori’s is the option to try three flavors for $0.50 more than the price of one (by getting cute, mini scoops!).  With flavors like biscoff, passion fruit, root beer float, black pepper pistachio, and brown sugar banana, who would only want to try one?

Afters

If you’re looking for another fun twist on an ice cream sandwich, how about a donut ice cream sandwich?  Known at Afters as “Milky Buns”, the warm donut and cold ice cream of your choice are fused together to make a delicious, one-of-a-kind treat.

Location(s):
There’s a bunch all over Southern California, so I’m not going to list them.  Check out their website (linked above) for the location nearest to you.

TIFA Chocolate and Gelato

TIFA is all about the weird flavors.  With combinations like strawberry pistachio rose, brown sugar vanilla fig, passion fruit orange blossom, and strawberry balsamic, you’re sure to find a flavor that’s new for you.

*Tip: you can get two flavors in a small!

Little Damage

Little Damage was so over that unicorn trend that was happening, so they created an all-black ice cream treat – black cone, black ice cream, black topping.  The black ice cream, known as “Black Jack”, is charcoal flavored, which kind of tasted like muted pumpkin pie to me, so, even if you’re hesitant, I think it’s worth a try.

Location(s):
700 S Spring St.
Los Angeles, CA 90014

Hours:
Sunday- Thursday: 12 p.m. – 12 a.m.

I hope these ideas satisfy your sweet tooth!  If you have any other suggestions for tasty ice cream places in SoCal, let me know in the comments!
